Firefox 3 beta 1 ? No thank you

I just gave the new Firefox 3 beta 1 a try. I have an oldie PowerBook G4. I opened up my blog there and scrolled down to test the javascript and how it would handle youtube videos and stuff. My computer froze. Opened up terminal – which too 3 min – and typed ‘top’. Sure enough, firefox managed to grab 50% of the total memory of my computer: ~500 meg. So, if you can’t decently run a browser on a 1gig RAM computer, what good is it for ? Your mileage may vary, specially if you’re on a PC.
I also realized that it doesn’t scroll as smooth as Safari, which has always really annoyed me. I’ll stick to Safari and will try flock.
